The Auditory Discrimination and Lip Reading Skills Inventory evaluates the skills that a person uses to discriminate speech at the word and sentence levels. The ADLR helps you to establish a baseline ability level, create goals, and/or measure progress. You may use it with all your clients with hearing impairments or auditory processing deficits. Best of all, the ADLR record forms and progress summary sheets are reproducible, so there are no forms to buy.

The ADLR has six subtests and four observational questions. During test administration, the client listens to a word or sentence and points to one of two photos or sentences. The subtests gradually increase in difficulty. They are:

  1. Syllable Structure (words that have a different number of syllables and words with the same number of syllables)
  2. Similar Features (dust/dark, stick/duck)
  3. Placement Features (big/dig, hair/pair)
  4. Voicing (pat/bat)
  5. Vowels (sit/suit, hit/heat)
  6. Sentences (sentences have same or different number of syllables and length)

The ADLR kit includes:

  • Two Stimulus Easels with color-coded tabs.
  • An Instruction Guide and CD-ROM for printing all the record forms.
  • Two Mouth Screens.
  • Sturdy Tote.
